Crooked Halo

Fourteen years ago I was informed by my husband that he felt I had an Auction Problem. He noticed I was accumulating a “few” treasures. He felt that I needed to thin out my collection. So I launched a new endeavor Crooked Halo! Looking back I am pretty sure he meant for me to sell what I had and then stop junk shopping. Boy was he not impressed!!

We started off doing small local Junk shows, craft fairs and an occasional weekend at the local flea market. From there we expanded to a seasonal store at Shady Hollow Flea Market in Detroit Lakes and added an antique mall booth.

This led to across country adventures doing larger Junk Shows. I will never forget the awe of the booth displays of the “Big timers” in the industry. Our first out of the area show was in Tulsa OK. We were blessed at that show to meet some unbelievably talented junk dealers that would become life long friends. We continued to do shows from MN to Texas in the winter months and a few in the summer. Along with the seasonal store we were spinning in circles and having a blast.

Once our kids got older and were unable to miss school in the winter we were forced to rein in the distance we would travel with shows and cut back at the number we did.

In September 2019 we took a leap of faith and opened our year round Crooked Halo store in Lake Park MN. Admittingly terrified if we could make this work, we leaned on family and friends to help us get our store launched. Due to the fact we traveled all over the country and have junking friends in lots of places, we reached out to them for inventory. It was really important to me, for our small business to support other small businesses. How better to do that then carry our friends talents.

So here we are. We have everything from cuss words to Jesus and I am proud to carry items made by us, and people we know personally. Some how we manage three children, full time jobs, seasonal store, brick and mortar and now online.

We thank you for supporting us and this crazy train we ride on!
